In the past few years I have found myself experimenting with bolder, brighter lip colours. Before I would be rather weary when wearing big colours but over time I have grown to love wearing different shades, be it subtle pinks to bold red colours.
The important thing to consider when choosing the right lip colour is that not all shades will complement your skin tone. We all have different complexions and so my advice is to test out the different colours and shades against your skin first. This way you get a good idea before committing yourself to purchasing. Reds and pinks come in a number of shades and each can be so different.
My two favourite lipsticks by Mac are Amplify and Ruby Woo; as you can see below I have made good use of these.
The above named lipsticks are then shown in the picture below in the same setting.
As I have mentioned above, I prefer a Matte finish but there are different textures that you can opt for. I think the best way is just to test them all and experiment with them to choose your favourite. A subtle satin finish would work in the day and at work, however a rich, bold matte finish would work on a night out. Of course if lipsticks aren't your thing, you can always go for coloured lip balms and lip glosses.
Before applying lip colour, be sure to have exfoliated and moisturised your lips as you dont want to apply the lipstick to chapped lips. I use the lip scrub from Lush Cosmetics as mentioned in a previous post. I have also started to stock up on different lip liners, just for more precision. It also makes applying the lipstick a lot more easier. Try and find a similar shade, it doesn't have to be an expensive branded one, and make sure to stay in alignment with your lips. Once I have applied the lipstick, I tend to take a brush with a little concealer and just go around the outside of my lips to finish the look off.
Look out for my next outfit post which will be up soon.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
